Review structures and flow of blood for short quiz. Practice labeling a diagram of a cross-section of an anatomically correct heart. See Unit 8 homepage for some practice suggestions.

Read ENTIRE article “Blowing a Gasket” (http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,1009656-1,00.html). Write a 1/2 page with summary explaining the info presented AND 1/2 page response of what you thought about it -- new questions, how it affects you or your family, things that surprised you, etc. (you MUST double side if more than 1 page total). Finish any questions from the dissection that you did not complete during class. I want accurracy of information, so use your text or the internet if needed and cite your sources. Feel free to use bullet point responses, but make sure I can read them! |

Debrief dissection & prepare for field trip | Mentally prepare for the field trip. Be certain to talk to your E and F block teachers. Look at the interesting books I put on reserve in the library. Don't be late for the bus! Bring food, a book, music in case you need to step away. |

Write a response to the field trip - what was surprising? what was particularly interesting? anything difficult to handle? how did you feel before, during and after? did anything come up for you when you were talking about it later? (~ 20-30 minutes & 1 page) Check out the books on display in the library. There's an amazing photography book on dissecting!
