Course Content:
The course in Anatomy and Physiology is a study of the structure and function
of the human body. At the completion of this course, the student will be able
to identify the major structures of the body and explain how these structures
contribute to the maintenance of life and health. Instructional modalities include
lectures, demonstrations, laboratory investigations, student presentations and
class activities.
Nuts & Bolts:
∑One “Natural Disaster Day” every semester on homework
assignments. Natural Disaster Day = no penalty for a late assignment that is
turned in by the end of the unit. Other homework assignments that are
turned in late will be marked down 50% and must be completed prior to the completion
of the unit (date of assessment).
∑ No food in the classroom or drinks -- we do labs in here and it's not healthy for you, not to mention it attracts critters. Water in refillable bottles only.
∑ Assignments must be physically turned in at the START of class to be considered on-time. Assignments may NOT be emailed. Assignments turned in after the START of class will be marked down 50%. Assignments longer than one page must be double-sided.
∑ Major pieces of work (ie. lab reports, essays & projects) will be penalized one letter grade per day if late.
∑ Tests can only be made up within 2 class periods for excused absences
only. Students are responsible for scheduling the make-up test.
∑ Randi will NOT be available to answer questions on the day that a test
is given. You must plan ahead and ask any last minute questions the day before
the test is scheduled (tutorials, lunch, class, etc.).
∑ Please communicate with Randi prior to known absences in order to create
a plan for the time missed. For unexpected absences, please contact Randi as early
as possible on the material that was missed. Randi will not chase you down to make
up labs, tests, or class work -- you must be responsible for your role in the
course. If you do not make up the work, you will receive a zero.
∑ Be kind to your classmates. It is vital that people feel comfortable
asking questions and sharing stories. There is no tolerances for actions or
comments that impede conversation.
∑ Keys to success: Use the web page! Keep up with your reading! Make flashcards!
