Geology Terminology List

 

1. Vesicles: Holes made by escaping bubbles of gas as the lava was solidifying.

2. Phreatophytes: Willows whose roots have to penetrate abundant ground water.

3. Hinge Lines: Are the lines of crests and troughs.

4. Anticlines: Up- folds. Vice versa is syncline: down-folds.

5. Psilomelane: Manganese dioxide.

6. Gabions: Chicken wire rock filled baskets.
