WHAT'S A PSA? - by Brad Lakritz

This was our chance to have fun, make a difference in the world, and learn all at the same time. Working with local non-profit organizations to help promote their efforts we created Public Service Announcements (PSAs). The final videos will be screened on local stations but you may also view them here.

Our week started with a brief look at PSAs, documentary techniques, and learning about how to tell a story and conduct an interview. We studied each organization in order to best understand their programs to be able to promote them. We quickly moved into production mode by visiting these organizations to document their programs and the local scene. We went into post production in MA’s Multimedia lab on Wednesday. Working in teams we used Apple’s Final Cut Pro and other image, sound, and video editing applications to create the final video PSAs. On Friday we published our own DVD and this website.

There are three different PSAs. You can view them seperately or watch one video with all three of the PSAs in one.
